Ukraine recovery

Helping to create sustainable jobs and income opportunities

Large sums of money have been earmarked by Western donors, including Denmark, for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in anticipation of the war coming to an end soon. Many private initiatives are also underway. However, it is vitally important to ensure income-generating opportunities for a population that is struggling after two years of grim warfare, that is still ongoing.

Other than humanitarian assistance, it is critical to start the long process of economic recovery by ensuring jobs or income-generating initiatives, thereby supporting the resistance demonstrated by the Ukrainian population.

In Ukraine, there is a great demand for labor in various sectors, as many men have joined the armed forces or have died in the war. Women are left behind as single providers of families and need access to sustainable income, through jobs or self-employment. For that, they need to be re-educated and trained to perform many of the jobs, that were previously done by men. Be it within industries such as construction or even as drivers of trucks or heavy machinery in the agricultural sector. Or within the IT sector, while leaning on a strong digital know-how and footprint throughout the country.

Also, war veterans make up a large group of individuals who need to be reintegrated into society and who can serve as valuable labor in many sectors with a shortage of exactly that.

Hope in Ukraine

Creating cross-sector partnerships

KJAER ADVICE is engaged in work to promote the recovery of Ukraine.

We support national and international actors from both the public, civil and private sector in efforts that come after the critical humanitarian aid, and instead focuses on the important long-term objective of rebuilding the country. Initiatives strive to rebuild communities by offering sustainable income avenues.

By fostering income-generating initiatives, it is the hope to assist the nation’s recovery on multiple fronts – rebuilding communities, supporting families, and laying the groundwork for a lasting recovery of Ukraine.

We build and facilitate cross-sector partnerships where civil society, the public sector, and private businesses unite to rebuild and empower the Ukrainian community.

The ambition is to create shared value through partnerships that will involve partners from within civil society, private and public sectors. We believe that the Ukraine recovery process can greatly benefit from uniting the strengths and insights that each of these sectors can bring. By joining forces, all accomplish more than ‘going it alone’.

KJAER ADVICE works to bring private enterprises on board the recovery process, thereby supporting economic growth, creating jobs, and securing infrastructure development and innovation.

Ongoing project

Jointly with national and international collaboration partners, including the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), KJAER ADVICE is committed to ensuring that the agenda of “building back better” applies not only to infrastructure, but also to the more vulnerable civilian groups, i.e. single female households, war veterans, and internally displaced populations.

KJAER ADVICE has been contracted to provide strategic advice to The Danish Refugee Council on engagement with the private sector in efforts to promote economic recovery within Ukraine.

The main scope of work will be to identify concrete opportunities and develop solution-oriented initiatives on joint engagement between the DRC and the private sector, along with local civic organizations, institutions and public authorities within Ukraine.
